Once the mouth of volcano, Kimo Crater was formed long ago when the volcano feel dormant and its magma cooled. The rich volcanic soil here is lush with grasses and at the crater's center a large lake has formed, aptly named Kimo Lake. Known widely for its beauty and fertility, Kimo still remains almost entirely undisturbed, in part because reaching the crater involves climbing the volcanic mountain it sits atop.
