Nighttime. Somehow, the phenomina of time changing seemed to be exceptionally special tonight. For days now, it seemed to feel as though something was shifting within her. Naturally, she had to take it as a sign that birth was, in fact, iminent. She was aware of what was to come; in her old home, mares had foals almost all the time. Knowing what she was up against, the mare wandered through the safe oasis in search of a secluded place for her to rest. Fortunately, it didn't take her long, for time was a factor that she couldn't afford to waste at this point.
She couldn't lie and say that it was quick. It wasn't painless either. Heat was ever-present, and it continued to pester her. Somehow, she wished she could just get away from it all. But she knew that the only way to rid herself of the uncomfortable situation was to just toughen up and get through it. It was with that attitude that she went into labor. For once in her life, she was glad that Rafael was not around. She certainly would not want him to see her in a condition like this. With all the cries she was making, he probably wouldn't know what to do. Seeing her in such pain could devistate him. Kasra certainly didn't want that for her love.
She could tell you now; it was well worth it. Curled up at her side, the young one rested. Life was certainly as tiring as the process that led up to it. When she began to lick him clean, it was as if the warmth allowed the life to flow into him. Immediately he became aware that he was here. There wasn't a word to describe it, as there were no words in his vocabulary yet. If he were able to speak, the word would probably be alive.
Kasra gave the young one a nudge, right beside his tiny head. He swung his heavy head around, both testing out this newly acquired weight and searching for the one who comforted him during his first moments of life. Of course, it was that mare. Softly, her lips parted, and a gentle sound floated to his ears. "Hello there." The sound was comforting. He felt safe here. She gave a smile and continued. "You're safe here, my darling, so take all the time you need." With that, the mare took the opportunity to stand once again, finding it a bit difficult to rip herself from her newborn's side. He seemed to react as well, no longer feeling Kasra's warm body against his. He panicked a bit, pulling his legs out in an awkward fashion. She glanced down and chuckled, nudging him again to assure him that she was still at his side.
"My dear Kaldan," she whispered. It was amazing to see how far she had come now. The foal was still a confused little mess, only aware that he was in dire need of something to eat. But even in knowing this, Kasra loved the child. He was the product of her and Rafael's love. He was perfect.
ooc: Woo, babiessss! Rafael replies only, please.

Rafael To be away was torture, but it was also the duty of a king. Rafael raced away from his heavy queen, making his rounds to the canyon and back in record time; yet, he felt he'd missed something. Quietly the bay stallion came over the rim of the oasis halting at its peak.
Kasra. He called out softly, as to not wake her if she was sleeping. His gazed out across the oasis's pit of water, seeing no movement and nothing out of the ordinary. A light sweat began to fall over the king, a nervous tremor as he searched for his red queen. His hooves moved on their own, pulling him down towards the waters edge. There was no unusual sounds, not silence but close to it in the oasis. Where is she? Another light call escaped him as he pivoted, continuing to strain his eye site.
The smell of blood hit him like a tree. Shit, he thought. Immediately his voice grew louder and more worried. Kasra, where are you? The thumping of his hooves lead him further towards a patch of foliage near the edge of the oasis, his nose begging him to run from the ever strengthening smell. Kasra! He called ducking beneath a fern leaf.
There she was. There he was. There they were. Oh. He nearly fell over on the spot.
ooc: ehh. BUT BABY

Kasra was somewhat amused by how panicked Rafael seemed to be. She had heard the stallion coming, of course, since he had probably been calling to her since he returned to the oasis. "All is well, my dear," she assured the stallion. It was all she could say, as she couldn't apologize for having a child at this late hour. Some things just happen and there's really no way to stop them. Kasra glanced back to the little colt, still a confused mess yet beginning to come together. In realizing that he needed nourishment, he figured that the long things beneath him would come in handy with bringing him a bit closer to his mother's height. Slowly but surely, each wobbly leg lifted his torso and hind from the ground, but because of the nature of the ground, he slipped every now and then. But Kasra was right there, giving him a bit more encouragement and a stable force to lean against.
When she was sure that the little one could handle himself, at least for a brief moment, Kasra turned back to Rafael. "You can come closer, if you think you can handle it." The mare chuckled a bit, triggering a bit of a response in her new son; though he couldn't mimic much yet, he opened his mouth and licked his lips. True, it was strange, but it showed that he was aware of what was around him. Witnessing this, she nudged Kaldan again, forcing him to move on his unstable legs again, though he stabilized himself just in time. He took a few unsure steps closer to his mother, hoping to feel that warmth and safety again. He was aware of the other horse nearby, but it wasn't his mother. Really, the only thing on his mind was food at this point.

Rafael I think I can handle it. Rafael had meant for this statement to show leadership, an easy courage, but instead he choked on the words while staying glued in place. He wanted to touch her, his queen. He wanted to be close to her, but there was something in the way.
His son was a lighter version of himself, with a stripe down his back and a gentle white nose. The colt was handsom, his long nimble legs would prove useful when he learned how to use them. What are you calling him? He asked the simple question, his voice still not working quite properly. This time, however, the king took a step towards his first born leaning his head down to get a closer look at the tiny thing.
He is beautiful. He's ours. A light smile touched him as he began to clam down.
ooc: gahhh fail. bahahaha. Rafe has issues. xDDD

"Kaldan," she said calmly, turning to smile at the confused colt. By now he had managed to get himself up on all fours, but it was clear that the legs were unstable. As he wobbled and tried to comprehend the use of these leg muscles, his mother moved closer to his side to help him along a bit. Kaldan wobbled a bit, but he quickly began to understand how to use his legs. The mare nuzzled her son to reassure yet again that she was still here. "I love him, Rafael." she admitted.
ooc: No muse for threads = crap. Wanna wrap this up soon? xDD I don't know what else there is to say in this :'D
