The freedom was so invigorating. She wasn't exactly held back by anyone, but she did have expectations. Now that those were gone, Kasra was...well, alive. The first chance she got, the mare fled her home and headed for the hills...well, canyons, actually. Before all she could do was admire them from a distance, but now that she was actually able to go there, she just teemed with excitement. With a smile on her face and the wind in her hair, the mare moved at high speeds to get to the rocky towers that she had always desired to see for herself. Actually being close to the formations was much different than seeing them from afar.
Once Kasra actually reached the canyon, it was clear by the expression on her face that the terrain would not disappoint her. Her smile widened, if it was even possible, and she angled her head toward the sky. The canyon stretched far above where any horse could reach even if they tried. Just beyond was the clear blue sky, along with the warm sun. She went against her natural instinct and let her guard down so that she may enjoy the moment. "Wow," she breathed; no other words could escape her mouth. With a place like this for a home, there would be no need to return to the old one ever again. That was exactly what the mare had planned to do; hopefully, she wouldn't see head or hoof of her former family ever again. Maybe, if she found the right stallion, she'd be able to start her very own, one that was much, much better than the one she had. She would make sure it was perfect for her and whoever else came along.
ooc : I had a much better version of this, but it got lost somehow. xD So sorry for crap. But it's open to anyone. <3

Rafael Becoming King proved to be much less difficult then the youthful, bay stallion had expected. No fight was involved, no scars earned in its wake; instead he had called out and not been answered to. It was his home, always had been, but now it truly was his home. He liked the feeling.
Today he scouted out the canyons, the less family oriented of his territory. He figured if anyone needed saving today they would be here. He knew the place well, had scouted the entire area in his second year, and he felt confident as king in this area of the region. A light breeze swept up from down in the canyon, brushing his mane back and away from his brown eyes.
Wow... Came a light yet echoing voice, lightly brushing his ears and moving on past him. The sound was female, and quite interesting to Rafael.
Hello... He replied peering down into the canyons depths. The mare was red, like the sand beneath her, and her naive smile drew him to her. Quietly he made his way a few yards down the canyon towards a narrow path that would lead him down to her level.

Kasra couldn't say that she expected anyone else to show up, though she wasn't necessairly upset that her alone time was cut short. She did want to start over, and the best way to do so was to recreate an image of herself. The only ones who will see that image was in fact strangers. So the mare decided to greet this stranger and see what he wanted exactly. With her head high and a smile on her face, Kasra eagerly trotted forward to close the distance between her and the stranger, noticing now that he was in fact a stallion. Once the two were within speaking distance, Kasra couldn't help herself.
"Isn't it stunning?" she asked him, still admiring the canyons. The mare gave a brief look around before pushing on. "Did they bring you here as well? They tore me from my old home. It's wonderful to be here." She glanced back to him with a sweet smile. "My name's Kasra, a former mare of the midlands." She tilted her head to the side, anticipating a reply from her next question. "Were you born here?"

Rafael I'm pleased you enjoy my lands. He chuckled ever so lightly at his sentence, the fact he could now use his. I know I do. It only took a few moments for him to agilely pick his way down the cliff side, with the red mare, Kasra, meeting him half way, coming to a stop at its base. They stood nose to nose for a few moments, taking each other in. Brown to red, youthful smile to youthful smile. Rafael liked her already.
I was born here. He stated mater-o-factly, as if the mare should have already known this. Full blooded desert runner I am, and now Rafael the desert King. He bowed slightly not knowing what to do as he addressed his new self. This was a matter of pride to Rafael's name, the tone of his voice was filled with it. His tail brushed lightly on his hocks as he waited for her reply. She was the first equine he'd told since the claim.

Kasra could tell right off the bat that this stallion was important in some way. With the way that he acted toward her - gentlemanly, she believed - it came as no surprise that this stallion was one of royal blood. However, unlike most who would automatically bow down and have their entire mood change because of who the horse was, Kasra remained as she had before Rafael mentioned who he was. With the reveal of his title, she simply responded with a smile and her angelic voice. "It takes a lot of responsibility to be king," she said. "But I'm sure you've got it down." She chuckled slightly and allowed her eyes to travel back to the canyon...his canyon. It was an odd concept that a lone stallion could own something as beautiful as this, but Kasra understood that it was simply a tradition; stallions owned land and mares, and they were allowed to threaten anyone who dared to disrupt them. The way Kasra made it sound seemed as though it were mad, but truthfully, there was nothing she could have done anyway. Oh well, she had figured. It was nice to simply have landmarks like this in the first place.
Getting her mind and the conversation back on track, Kasra turned back to Rafael. "So, tell me, where are your subjects, King Rafael?" She mused, her tone sounding almost as though she were teasing him a bit. "And what about your queen?" Quickly, the mare glanced over the stallion's body, fine and toned as a hotblooded stallion's should be. "A king of your stature surely has a lovely mate." Her questioning may have seemed a bit personal, but she had to start somewhere.

Rafael Actually, He paused for a few moments, thinking rather intensely about how he would reply to her witty question. I was hoping that you might be able to tell me. He felt slightly less then king saying something like that, but he had to cut himself a little slack considering he'd only been king for a few days and nights. The bay was quite positive the news hadn't even made it through the desert boarders yet. I've not been King for more then a few days. She should understand now; he should believe in himself more.
I have no queen, and no love. With this statement something flickered behind Rafael's eyes, something deep in his subconscious that he didn't even realize existed. And you? The emanate question echoed off of the canyon walls, causing Rafael's ears to swivel nervously.

Kasra's happy mood couldn't seem to break. Perhaps it was still the feeling of being here that kept her happiness alive. "Well," she said, first glancing at Rafael and then back at the canyons around her. "Don't you think we should go look for them? I hate to interrupt your scouting, especially if the herd is nowhere in sight." The mare took a few steps away from the stallion, heading back the way she came a bit. She flicked her tail and turned her neck, keeping a sharp eye on Rafael. She stopped, not too far from where Rafael was still standing, and waited for the stallion to follow.
"I don't have anyone either," she added. "That's why I came here." She hoped that answered his question enough, as she didn't wish to dwell on the subject too long. The mare moved a bit further. "Are you coming?" She could feel the energy within her. "Wouldn't want to lose what could quite possibly be your new herd member, would you?" Kasra gave a laugh. Not before long, the mare was off. The sound of her hoof beats echoed through the canyons. As she galloped, she glanced back to see if the hotblood decided to pursue her or not.

Rafael He sensed her playfulness, it excited him. Before she even took off his muscles twitched, silently anticipating a game of chase. She was very beautiful, her red coat accenting the sandy walls around her. Kasra. He thought, silently playing with her name. He listened to her voice, he teasing. Then, before he could gain control of himself, she was off. Her galloping hoof beats echoing off the walls and her equally echoing voice reaching his ears.
No, no I wouldn't want to lose you. His tail raised in an elegant way as he dug his own hooves into the dust, following her as quickly as he could. Kasra! He called out. Do you believe in fate?! He'd nearly caught up to her now, so he was quite certain she'd heard him.

Kasra tossed her head and laughed as Rafael caught up to her. It didn't take long, since he was much faster than she was, but she continued running and enjoying the wind through her hair. She had heard his question, but remained silent for a bit before answering. She had to think about it a bit, honestly. As she ran beside the stallion, she pondered this idea. Fate. She had never really thought about it before, as the home she grew up in prevented her from free-thinking. But, she supposed, fate could be a force that drove each individual's life, as well as brought horses together. Once the mare decided this, she came to a halt, allowing the two of them to catch their breath.
"I suppose it's possible," she said, her head lowered to the ground as she breathed. Really, anything was possible now. "Things do happen for a reason." She managed to lift her neck and turned to face the stallion, looking him straight in the eyes. "Why do you ask?" She paused for a moment, feeling the need to be more specific. "Do you believe something special has happened here?" Again, the mare smiled, this time reassuring that she was in fact happy that they had met one another.

Rafael His breathing, although slightly winded, had returned to its normal pace. His ears were hyperactive as he listened to her answer. Her long descriptive answer. He smiled, his eyes flickering with the same subconscious light that had been flickering earlier. He was slightly taken back, shocked into reality at her last question aimed directly at him.
Well, uh. He frantically looked for an answer with in himself, his tail twitching rapidly at non-existent flies. Well.... He looked up at her. Her face was happy, smiling, and bright. She was not nervous and yet Rafael was absolutely at a loss.
I hope so. He mumbled like a colt, looking down at his hooves. "What are you thinking, Rafe?" He heard his fathers voice in his mind. It wasn't an oddity to hear the elder stallion back there, and this didn't cause the king to jump, yet he was still physically nervous about Kasra's question. "I don't know Da. I don't know." This was all happening silently, quickly and silently.
"Well ask her, King. Ask her now before she runs away." He demanded it from his son. Now now now. There was no time.
Will you be my queen? His head was higher now, and he looked at her again. He wasn't confident in his question but he hoped she wouldn't notice. This was good right? He wasn't afraid of anything... He was King; the only thing he should be able to be afraid of was his queen. A light smile passed over him as he thought of his father.
ooc : D'awwww what a cutie. xD

Kasra had to admit, the question caught her slightly off guard, stopping in her tracks immediately before getting any further. There wasn't much doubt in her mind now that she had stumbled upon him for a reason. The mare kept her deep black eyes on the stallion. She could see how nervous he was, and it made her chuckle a bit. He had probably never dealt with something like this before in his life. There was nothing wrong with that. To help Rafael along a bit, the mare moved in a bit closer to the stallion. "It's a bit sudden, don't you think? You've only just met me." It was a simple fact that the mare just wanted to get out there. "But you know, I feel comfortable around you. Much safer than I ever have been in my life." Her face lit up with her smile. "But I suppose I could give this a try."
With that, Kasra tossed her mane playfully and turned back to where she was heading. The mare took a few more steps, hoping that the two could take a simple stroll together. She turned her head to Rafael. "Well, are you coming? Wouldn't want to keep your queen waiting." She chuckled again before moving on.
