Ali’iKai
The light rain bothered her as the white mare walked around her beach. Ali'ikai looked at the sky, trying to determine what season it was. When you live on the islands, it can be hard to determine. It seemed to just continuous sun and the occasional shower. She wanted to live on the mainlands. Where there are different colors on the trees and white snow that fell on you. But that was something she would never commit, not in her wildest dreams. She was small, barely above 15 hands. Rather small compared to how tall her parents were. But she pushed that thought out of her mind. It had always pained her when she thought about them. Perhaps it was the fact that she could longer see them. They had left for the mainlands, in search for a place better than this deserted island.
She stared at the rising sun. It wasn't uncommon for the mare to be awake so early. She wasn't a fan of the dark, going to sleep when the sunsetted and waking up when the sun was on the verge of rising. The mare stretched her legs while standing on the edge of the waves. The colors of the sun rise wasn't as pretty as the sun set. It was the last thing he saw before she closed her eyes every night.
The mare started walking towards the water until the waves crashed against her chest. She wasn't the biggest fan of the salt water, even though she lived on the beach. It left the dry and parched feeling on her skin. Another reason was the occasional fish that would rub against Ali'kai's legs. But the white mare stood, letting the water suck the life out of her fur.
